Fundraising Appeal
- Our goal for 2008
Malmesbury Youth FC is on the verge of its most exciting period of development since it was formed. This starts with the 2008 Appeal, which will allow us to build desperately needed changing facilities. Our old portable cabins have no heating, showers or privacy, and the portaloo
is an experience to be missed!
As well as affecting our own children, this gives a poor impression of
Malmesbury for over 1000 visiting players and their families each year.
We have wanted to address this problem for a long time, and with
planning permission granted in January 2008, we finally have the
opportunity.
The new facilities will also allow us to launch one or more girls’ teams from 2009; see Future Plans page for details.
You can see architects drawings of the plans here. You will need Adobe Acrobat to view this file – this can be downloaded for free here:
This building is expected to cost just over £300,000 (subject to tender). With funds we have raised so far, and generous support anticipated from the Football Foundation, we are now within £50,000 of our target (as at the end of March). We want to start work as quickly as possible, to celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2009 with new facilities.
We are applying for various grants, and hoping for financial support and sponsorship from local businesses. We are also planning activities throughout the year to raise money:
- a raffle running from Spring to Summer
- events (e.g. a race night and a sporting dinner), including an auction of promises
- a six-a-side tournament with nearly 200 teams
- a sponsored event for all the players
Please see the club’s Calendar of Events for more details, and visit the Support Us page to find out about all the ways you could help.
